if that ain't country

you know you're in the country when the preacher announces a church skeet shoot from the pulpit. well, i am not one to pass on adventure, so here's me trying to get a "rabbit."

we each hit a couple, but we were no match for the local teens.

and...just this week we have had three snake sitings at our house. two babies and then this fella...

he was two feet from our back door!! anyone know what kind of snake he is? colin killed him with a shovel, but since he was still moving, i shot him a couple of times. then i used an axe to behead him. you can't be too sure...can you?

spring break in arkansas

we are not exactly sure how we decided on arkansas for spring break, but we are glad we did. we had some great family time, lots of good food and beautiful scenery!

we went hiking

saw some tall trees

enjoyed God's creation

saw a ton of my favorite flowers

i have never seen so many in one place...gorgeous!

we also went horseback riding.

this was jack's first time on a horse. he rode double with daddy on one called "big bob."

afterwards, you can either kiss your horse or tip your guide.

reese was low on cash.

no vacation is complete without a round of mini golf...pirate mini golf...arrgh!

and plenty of ice cream!

soccer season is upon us

soccer games started last week and i have yet to post about it. we are driving 25 minutes to practice each week because these girls love to play soccer. each of them has a good friend on the team and they are having fun. it is a bit more competitive than upward, so this may be a learning season for them. i captured a couple of pics from the games this last week. both of the girls' teams won their game.

to mackenzie, soccer is serious business.

happy belated b-day

my hubby turned 40 this week! he wasn't too thrilled about his birthday this year, but not because of how old he is getting or the few grey hairs sprouting up. the stomach bug swept through our family the week before his birthday. and much to his dismay, he got sick the day before the 4-0 arrived. as you can see in the picture, we separated the cupcake that had the candle he blew out from all the other ones to prevent contamination. doesn't he look excited? thanks aunt leanne for the delicious cupcakes.
