mexico mission trip #4

in my opinion, this was the best mission trip yet. we had a fantastic combination of people from fbc and grace that went to doctor arroyo.

during the day we ministered at the hospital and in homes of local church families.

in the afternoon, we organized vbs in some villages outside of doctor arroyo. we had bi-lingual worship services and at the end of the day walked in town for some 'helado' (ice cream), nachos con todo (ultimate nachos) or hamburguesas (hamburgers).

one day we went to real de catorce, the town where they filmed "the mexican," and shopped and fellowshipped with the group.

as always, jackson looked "extra clean."

funner than heck

that is the term my nana used to say when she had a great time. this friday was no exception. for Christmas, my mom and mark gave me and colin a guided fishing trip on lake texoma. rex and shane were interested too and so we scheduled the trip on my birthday.

off to a beautiful start...at 6 a.m.

our spirited guide did not want me taking pictures on the boat because i would miss out on fishing. so...we waited until we returned to the marina.

we rolled in around noon with the above fish in tow.

needless to say...fun birthday!!

memorial day weekend

for several years now our good friends have been asking us to join them in gustine for the memorial day weekend festivities. this is the first time we were free so we called 'em up and said "we're in."

we went to the rodeo, ate some catfish and puffs, swam and enjoyed hanging out together.

geb and jack participated in the 'slap the goat' portion of the rodeo for young uns. they released several goats and then released the kiddos to see who could catch one. in the picture are geb and jack showing their ribbons after successfully slapping a goat. they are both filthy dirty but loved every second of it.

on sunday the mckees drove in to go to church with us and then we had a picnic in the park.

catching up

it has been a long...busy month! this blog should catch me up a bit.

this month was alot about mackenzie. she went to medieval times, had her birthday, and "graduated" from sixth grade.

mackenzie's class took a field trip to medieval times in dallas. we had some good food and good times.

then she had her 12th bday party at our house. we made tie dye shirts and pizzas, played on the trampoline in the water, played games and watched movies. the girls were so sweet and got along famously.

jack and i decided to see what the waco zoo had to offer and it was actually quite impressive.

the last week of may was 6th grade graduation (formerly known as moving from one grade to the next).

these are some of mackenzie's sweet friends on their graduation day. mackenzie and reese both made A honor roll for the year. sorry to reese for no pictures of her awards ceremony. :(
