mud run fun!

i finally talked colin into doing a mud run with me...and he loved it!  it was definitely the muddiest mud run i've ever done.  it rained all night the night before and everything was extremely muddy.  reese and jack played in the mud at the finish line while they waited for us to complete the course.  by the time we finished, they were as muddy as we were.

happy 14th bday mackenzie

mackenzie wanted to just have a few friends over for a sleepover on her bday and keep things nice and simple and maybe even watch some harry potter movies.  then she got on pinterest 

and things got a bit more complicated.

  so...we made wands

 had some butter beer,

  made necklaces and played some harry potter trivia.  i decided to complicate things a bit further

 and bought some bertie botts jelly beans for the game.  if they answered a trivia question incorrectly, they had to eat a jelly bean (various flavors include soap, grass, 

vomit, sausage, black pepper, rotten eggs and boogers).  

 

 it was a really fun party.  mackenzie is growing up to be such a beautiful,

kind-hearted and funny young lady.  i love her dearly and am thankful i get

to be her mom!

mother's day baseball

i think we went to a ranger's game for mother's day last year, but this year decided to head to the motherland.  yes, folks...i'm talking about aggie baseball.  we met some of our favorite peeps for a night of rained-out baseball and over-priced food.  i'm talking sno-cones, kettle corn, hot dogs, sausage on a stick, boudin, cokes and then a late night snack at chick-fil-a.

 it was worth the drive just to hang with sweet friends!  a good mother's day indeed!!

5th grade science field trip

a few weeks ago i chaperoned a trip to san marcos for a science field trip.  it was really fun and a great learning experience.  the kids searched a local stream for things living in there.  we took the creatures out of the water to examine them, then returned them to their habitat.  

then we went on a glass-bottom boat ride that the kids loved.  

 the best part was being with reese and learning about God's creation!
